Anglo Saxon Skeleton

Today was the day everyone here at the Museum has been looking forward to for a long time, our resident Anglo Saxon skeleton has been moved to her new home!

All thanks to the Friends of the Vale & Downland Museum, we were able to purchase a brand new state of the art display case especially for our skeleton.

Those of you that have visited the Museum before will remember our skeleton in a fairly small display case which meant she was not able to be laid out properly, which made it difficult to see her true form.

In her old display case

Our Curator Suzie Tilbury has been working very hard for a long time to get the skeleton moved to a more appropriate display case.

Finally a few months ago the Museum was able to purchase two state of the art display cases. One for the skeleton & one for the Lockinge Gallery.

The cases were installed over the last few weeks and were finally ready to be used.

Here are some pictures of the skeleton being moved (click on the picture to enlarge)

Slowly moving each bone

Carefully placing each bone in the correct place

All safely moved into the new case
