Keggie Carew in Conversation with Mary Loudon

October 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

£10.00

The Wantage Literary Festival (formally the Wantage ‘not just Betjeman’ Literary Festival) is back this year with a whole new name and look!

The line-up this year is fabulous and we are excited to have a few events taking place in the Museum.

Keggie Carew in Conversation with Mary Loudon

Winner of the Costa Biography Award 2016, Keggie talks about her undercover guerrilla SOE agent father. Tom Carew was known as the ‘Lawrence of Burma’ and was the youngest ever officer to be awarded a Distinguished Service Order. Keggie explores how after the war her father’s life began to unravel into a final long and sad decline with dementia. Keggie’s Dadland is a deeply moving book that will speak to all those who are trying to piece together the story of their parents’ lives. Catch her in Wantage prior to her Gladstone Library Residence.

Mary Loudon is the bestselling author of four non-fiction books, including Relative Stranger, A Sister’s Life After Death. She has been published in 12 countries, won four writer’s prizes and been short- and long-listed for the MIND Book of the Year and the Richard and Judy Book of the Year awards. She is a Fellow of the British American Project and a former Whitbread Prize judge. Mary is a popular public speaker and cultural commentator: she has made over 200 radio and TV appearances on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, ABC and Sky. Her fifth book is due to be published in 2019.
